Due
to the increasing reports of mobile phone thefts, avrmobiles.co.uk
have produced this information sheet containing some useful
safety pointers.
Many mobile phones are being stolen every day and the young
are most vulnerable. These simple pointers will REDUCE YOUR
RISK of becoming a victim of mobile phone thieves.
What can I do to protect my phone?
You can provide the police with some basic information about
your phone; you can make it more difficult for a thief to
use it.
It is recommended that you make a safe note of the following
information.
15 digit serial / IMEI
number
You can get this by typing *#06# on your phone, alternatively
you can find this on the back of your phone or you can contact
avrmobiles.co.uk for this information (Please remember if
you have a warranty replacement to make a note of the new
IMEI number)
This serial / IMEI number can help the police to trace ownership
quickly.
Always
use your phone pin lock
Mark
your phone with your name, postcode and house number. This
can be done securely at your local police station.
When
using your phone, remain aware of your surroundings and do
not use it in crowded areas or where you feel unsafe.
Avoid
displaying or showing off your new phone where it is in public
view. Keep your phone with you at all times and do not leave
it unattended.
When
driving, do not place your phone in view of others, for instance
on the passenger seat.
If
your phone is stolen you must report it to your network operator
immediately. This will ensure that the phone and sim card
are barred from use, without any further cost to you, just
in case the thief decides to run up a bill on your account.
Once you have done this then contact the police and give them
the following information.
Fascia details
Phone number
Serial/IMEI number
PIN number
KEEP THE ABOVE DETAILS
IN A SECURE AND SAFE PLACE, SEPARATE FROM YOUR PHONE.
If you have any questions relating to any of this information
or for any information on the Insurance cover you may have,
